## Allwyn Broadens US Lottery Reach with Camelot Lottery Solutions Group Purchase
In a move signifying a major expansion into the US lottery sector, Allwyn has reached an agreement to purchase Camelot Lottery Solutions Group (Camelot LS Group) from the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board.
Based in Chicago, Camelot LS Group is renowned for its management of the Illinois Lottery via its operational arm, Camelot Illinois. In addition to Illinois, they have collaborated with the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery to enhance their activities and possess a technology branch that caters to lotteries and participants throughout North America and Europe.
Crucially, Allwyn has stressed that this acquisition will not result in any immediate alterations to Camelot LS Group’s management structure. Wayne Pickup, Chief Executive Officer of Camelot LS Group, conveyed his excitement regarding the transaction, remarking, “We are dedicated to continuing our service to customers, engaging players, and producing lottery proceeds that benefit the communities in which they operate.” He further underscored the robust partnership with the Illinois Lottery, emphasizing their commitment to “propelling responsible and enduring growth to optimize returns for the State of Illinois.” Pickup is confident that the unified resources, knowledge, and skills of Allwyn and Camelot LS Group will only magnify their beneficial influence on Illinois and their entire clientele.
Upon the finalization of this transaction, Camelot LS Group will transition into a wholly-owned subsidiary within the Allwyn portfolio. Anticipated to conclude in the initial quarter of 2023, the agreement awaits customary regulatory clearances.
Robert Chvátal, Chief Executive Officer of Allwyn, underscored the strategic significance of this acquisition, remarking, “The United States has consistently represented a pivotal market for Allwyn’s prospective expansion, and securing Camelot LS constitutes a substantial stride towards actualizing that aspiration.”
He elaborated, “Allwyn is devoted to elevating the lottery encounter through technological advancements, augmented productivity, and fortified security protocols. By bolstering player participation, we aspire to optimize contributions to charitable endeavors.” Chvátal concluded by emphasizing the congruent principles of both entities, stating, “Both Allwyn and Camelot possess a profound enthusiasm for the lottery sector and are dedicated to furnishing value to our clientele while amplifying the advantages that lotteries bestow upon society.”
This announcement follows Allwyn’s triumphant tender to assume the role of operator for the UK National Lottery in March 2022, succeeding Camelot after their 28-year tenure.
