A freshly minted esports organization, Guild Esports, co-founded by football icon David Beckham, has made its debut. Their aspiration is to rival the leading names in the esports realm.
The company is constructing a talent pool within the UK. They will furnish players with guidance to aid their advancement and participation in professional competitions.
Guild will also leverage a scouting network to unearth fresh talent. They are assembling a roster of esports athletes across a diverse range of games. They anticipate their inaugural team to engage in professional events prior to autumn.
Guild asserts that their athletes will contend in events for widely popular titles such as Rocket League, FIFA, and Fortnite.
“I am aware that our esports competitors are resolute,” stated Beckham. “At Guild, our objective is to establish a novel benchmark for supporting these athletes. We are dedicated to facilitating the development of young talent through our academy. I eagerly anticipate contributing to the growth of our Guild Esports squad.”
Beyond Beckham’s support, Guild can also leverage the knowledge of its executive chairman, Carleton Curtis, widely acknowledged as the mastermind behind the Overwatch League and Call of Duty League within the esports realm.
Curtis remarked on the new undertaking: “Esports continues to expand at a rapid rate, making this the ideal moment for Guild Esports to enter this dynamic market.
“We have assembled a seasoned management team and I am incredibly proud to have David Beckham as a partner in this venture, as his professionalism and extensive experience in high-performance athletic teams aligns with our core strategy of building a world-class esports squad.
“Esports has become one of the most popular spectator sports worldwide, and it will continue to grow globally as enthusiasm, accessibility, and comprehension of the industry rise.”
